BUOY
This is the first LP album from Jackson Bennett. Self released and self produced, this album glimpses shades of Phillip Glass, Brian Eno, David Bowie and TV on the Radio to name a few. All packed into a dirty DIY pop rock collage. Upon first listen you may find youself at the end of the last track saying, “WTF was that!” and then relistening to some of the previous tracks just to try and make some sense of it. Good luck. This album is a sprawling heap of driving rock sonically united but individualized to where each song stands on it’s own. Themes of politico, love gone wrong, loves early flower, culture climate and just plain old Hippy Dippy Hip Hop, party down into a giant 12 song set. If you like honest lyrics juxtaposed with interesting computer rock, you may have just found a faint signal in this vast ocean of modern music.
In light of recent advances in the recording industry, I decided to release this album as “pay what you like”. Just think of it as a little love letter straight to me saying, “sure…I’ll pay for it, as long as YOU the ‘artist’ gets paid” And that’s what it is. Just a thank you, to me, directly to me, sayin’ “hey, nice work kid!”
